Exams Information for
SY 2024-2025
Our friendly and experienced staff can guide you through each step of the exam process from making exam entries and applying for access arrangements to preparing for exam day and collecting your results.
Finding an exam centre
Read Meta School will gladly provide you with a list of exam centres for your country or region. These centres have told us that they accept private candidates. You may also find a local exam centre. In countries where there is a British Council exam centre, this will usually be a good choice.
We strongly advise you to contact a centre to be sure you can make the necessary arrangements before enrolling with Read Meta School.
Entering your child for their exams
If your child is to take GCSEs/IGCSEs, you will need to apply directly to an exam centre for them to sit as an external (or private) candidate. While we cannot submit the application on your behalf, we can guide you through the process. All of our GCSE/IGCSE courses include a number of past exam papers in the final module. These include the most recent paper, which can be taken as a mock exam and submitted to your Tutor for assessment and feedback for a modest additional fee.
Typically, you will pay your exam centre £150-220 GBP per qualification (not per examination).

How we can help
Before your child is enrolled, our Admissions team will send you lists of exam centres in your country which have been verified by our Exams Officers. We strongly advise contacting a centre early on.
Guidelines for sitting exams
Exam centres have the option of whether or not to accept you or your child as a private candidate for their exams. They are not required to do so. But if you follow the guidelines below, you will make it easier for them to accept your entry.
Contact your chosen exam centre before enrolling at Read Meta School to check that they will accept you or your child for your proposed sitting (either May/June or October/November). Note that many centres, particularly in the Northern hemisphere, do not offer an October/November sitting.
Apply for exam registration as early as possible.
Upon receipt of your entry, your centre will issue you with a ‘Statement of Entry’. Check carefully that the information there is correct. Contact the centre at once if it is not.

Online School FAQs
-
Fully online high schools and online schools for primary students are just like regular schools, except students learn from the comfort of their own home – or anywhere else in the world. Just like in any other school, students in virtual schools study set classes with a teacher, interact with their classmates, and undertake exams.
A purpose-built online environment is different from (and better than) the way traditional schools operated online during the pandemic. Read Meta School has been designed and optimised for virtual learning, with experience in how to effectively deliver part-time and full-time online instruction to students around the world.
-
Registering at an online school is easy. First, take a look through our subject offering and fees pages, then note down which subjects your student would like to study. Next, head over to our Apply Online page and fill in your details. Once your registration form is submitted, our team will get in touch with you regarding the application process.

Unlike most schools, online school prepares students for independent learning, setting them up for their future careers. Online education is also highly flexible, allowing students to study and progress at a rate that suits them best. Lessons are available for rewatching 24/7, and pupils are free to study anywhere in the world as long as they have a laptop and internet connection.
Just like traditional schooling, we have a strong sense of school community and belonging, with clubs, assemblies, extracurricular activities, and social opportunities all available on our own safe platforms. Our online learning model also ensures students receive all the support and structure they need to thrive, and pupils are free to reach out to their teachers for help and encouragement at any time.

At Read Meta School, the primary, secondary, and IGCSE programmes offer a complete education with everything you’d expect from a physical school while learning full-time online. Students have live, timetabled classes every weekday, learning and progressing with the same set of students and qualified teachers.

While both online learning and homeschooling typically take place in a student’s home, they’re not the same thing. When children are homeschooled, their parents or guardians serve as their instructors, while online school programs are taught by qualified teachers.
Homeschools also don’t need to follow the national curriculum. We, however, teach a British curriculum with GCSE and/or IGCSE.
Online learning can be a great supplement for parents who are currently homeschooling their children. -
Experienced UK teachers deliver live lessons in real-time, all optimised for online learning to bring your child’s education to life. Students in need of help or encouragement can always get in touch with their teachers for additional support.
Every lesson is recorded and uploaded to the online portal, giving students 24/7 access to their past classes. -
Online learning benefits a diverse mix of pupils in the UK and internationally, including young sports stars, actors, entrepreneurs, high-achieving students, and those who don’t suit mainstream schooling for any reason. With learning that revolves around the student, each individual can thrive in an online school environment, supported by a global community that prioritises mental health.
-
Online school and traditional school GCSE and IGCSE qualifications, also known as the International GCSE, are considered equivalent by universities, colleges, and sixth forms around the world.
-
Students across all age groups can join at any time of the year, and enrolling takes just a few days. Pupils who enrol after the start of the academic year need not worry about catching up, as all lessons are recorded and available to view at any time.
